Finally! LA's Umami Burger has come to the East Coast, celebrating East MEATS West. With the first location in New York, Umami Burger's Greenwich Village location (432 Sixth Avenue) has quickly become a hot spot for burger lovers all over the city. Featuring an innovative menu of drinks, snacks, and—you guessed it!—burgers, Umami makes use of fresh and local ingredients, supporting its avowal that it truly is not a fast-food burger. “Umami” is one of the five basic tastes (the others are sweet, sour, bitter, and salty), and epitomizes true deliciousness. Don't take our word for it—head on down and give their Spice Duck and Umami French Dip burger a try!

If the line at Umami is too long, don't fret! There are many other fantastic options in the Village for those hankering for a burger. If you don't see your favorite here, make sure to add it in the comments below!

Minetta Tavern (113 MacDougal Street)- Opened in 1937, the Minetta Tavern is a real Greenwich Village mainstay. Frequented by famous New Yorkers of the past, including Ernest Hemingway and Ezra Pound, Minetta is known for its Black Label Burger. The Black Label is made with a selection of 100% prime cuts, simply topped with caramelized onions, and is perfect for lovers of good, quality meats.

Joy Burger Bar (631 Sixth Avenue)- Joy Burger Bar is truly the burger lover's paradise. Customers can choose from three different patty sizes (mini, midi, and maxi) as well as free toppings including sautéed onions and cheeses. Pro tip: check in at Joy on FourSquare and receive a free order of fries!

BLT Burger (470 Sixth Avenue)- With locations in New York, Las Vegas, and Hong Kong, BLT Burger is a great option for those who like alternative burgers, such as their Atlantic Salmon. Make sure to try the Steakhouse Burger, which is a combination of brisket, short ribs, and sirloin, topped with caramelized onions and sandwiched between two delicious and lightly-toasted pieces of bread. Beyond the burger, BLT is known for their delicious milkshakes—if you're indulging, try it with a shot of Kahlua.

Bareburger (535 Laguardia Place)- Bareburger is a local chain of burger restaurants: any NYC burger aficionado from Brooklyn to Queens can vouch for their fresh ingredients and delicious menu items. Committed to their organic mission, Bareburger makes use of local ingredients to benefit the consumer and community alike. With traditional burgers like beef and turkey, as well as more exotic options such as elk and boar, Bareburger is a Greenwich Village centerpiece for a reason.
